Emotional language
It has
taken me a long time
to study
and learn
your
emotional language.
And still,
I can’t speak it well.
Much hardship and pain
went into
trying to figure out
what you
really wanted
to
communicate.
For so long
I have been
longing
to
communicate with you
openly and
honestly
but there was always a barrier.
I felt ignored
when you
just changed the topic
or walked
away
when I had
something
important
to say.
You did not appreciate
my
emotional language
and I never
felt
you made
any effort
to learn it
either.
Oh how much longer
will we
communicate
in
different languages
and
terribly
misunderstand
each other?
Learning to
communicate not just on a verbal but also on an emotional level is crucial in
getting along with one another. Many
times there is a huge gap in what is being said and what is perceived. People
tend to believe what they perceive more that what they hear. Learning good
communication on an emotional level is very important.
Talmud, Shabbat 33a
Words that
are spoken with anger can break the bones of the heart; words spoken with
wisdom bring healing.
